GENIUS Act To Advance? Stablecoin Legislation Will Face New Vote Next Week
US Senators are gearing up for a critical revote on the stablecoin bill, the GENIUS Act, which recently fell short of passing cloture. Bipartisan amendments have been introduced to salvage the legislation after initial setbacks, including withdrawn support from Senate Democrats.
Senator John Thune has filed a new cloture motion for the amended bill, signaling renewed efforts to push the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for US Stablecoins Act forward. The legislation, spearheaded by Republican Senator Bill Hagerty, previously garnered only 49 votes, failing to overcome procedural hurdles.
